2008 Del Mar Criterium Series comes to an end

Another successful year of the DMCS! In our third, and most successful year, the Del Mar Criiterium Series has become one of San Diego's premier cycling races.

In 2006 we hosted 4 Wednesday races.

In 2007 we experimented with two Wednesday races and one Saturday finale event.

This year, in 2008, we could host only one Wednesday and one Saturday race due to an early day-light-savings schedule and calendar conflicts with our venue, the world famous Del Ma… Continue

Del Mar Crit Success....can't beleive we're in our third years

Last Wednesday, March 12, marked the 8th race we've put on in three years at the world famous Del Mar Fairgrounds. Each year we wonder why we're doing this, given that we are all volunteers and don't make a dime from the race, but when the magic begins to flow we get fed! Still, the worst thing is when non-Aloha racers come to us with complaints and demands without gratitude for all the work we have done to give them the opportunity to race. It's certainly true that being a race promoter is a th… Continue

Running for a working man

I'm a working man now. Gone are the days when I had all day to get in a ride and get paid for it! I'm back working a desk job and fighting for every minute of every day. It feels good in an awkward way. There are definite good and not so good things but that's for another rambling.

For now, to keep in shape and the inevitable pounds off, I've started to run again. It took a long time for me to start feeling good again when running...more importantly not feeling totally broken the day af… Continue

While my race was a success...

I totally failed to keep up my neurotic ramblings. I got caught up in the million little things that go to manage a race and simply ran out of energy to write. The good news is that the race went well and racers, spectators and sponsors enjoyed the new venue which was inside the Del
Mar Fairgrounds instead of the main parking lot. This brought a level of intimacy and
excitement to the event as everyone was huddled in a much smaller area while
the racers appeared and disappea

Ramblings of a neuortic cyclist &race promoter

Three days and counting. Our big finale race is this Saturday at the Del Mar Fairgrounds and all hell is breaking loose. From people switching registrations, selling their spots on eBay, new advertisers calling me up to participate (God bless them), to issues with our medals and trophys, to getting big ass tents to the venue, to making sure our new course is set up propertly, to negotiating a discont on the price of pizza supplied by the event venues food license holder, XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX. I'… Continue
