Damn Orion... 83 is frickin' off charts man...move over Lance... I had the same deal threshold power 303w / I was cooked...I think I'd need to train long power intervals to get that to improve...
Of the 3 tests I've done with Ken my best VO2 max was 83. Don't remember what the body fat reading was. Unfortunately my power at threshold was only at 311, just goes to show it takes more than Oxygen :) Unfortunately, during the 6ish weeks of this study my threshold hasn't changed... I don't think that is a good sign
Felt like a cyborg cyclist from the future... like Jon not a big fan of the mask / felt like I was sucking air through a straw... Ken kept shaking his head during my first test and I was thinking "Man I suck.... he's probably going to say give up cycling and take up golf..." I didn't realize it was because for my age I was kind of an outlier... As for damage, I felt good for a geriatric type: VO2masx of 69.5 and Body Fat test at 7.9% How did you come out?
yea this photo makes you look like some cyborg cyclist from the future! Ken mumbled something about you having a having a big engine, whats the damage?
GREAT JOB guys... I didn't know about Jon's test in time to put out my hot tip list and by the time I saw you were testing guess I missed that window as well... after the first one I felt warming up easy really made a differences. One time I did Kam's openers but Ken said he thought that was too much / tuff call - I think it may have helped... once you reach titration on the test it's some major pain... Good Stuff...
Heh, Mike thanks for the pointers. Too bad I read them after the test!!
Turns out your mug is plastered all over the testing facility. I got a good chuckle out of that, along with some good motivation.
Yes next time I will definitely have to find a fan! and get some warm up!! He had me start the test cold. Ouch! I guess I got some warm up during the ramp up but a little more would have been nice..can't wait for the next one :)
Best of Luck Orion... I found it was helpful to bring: Towel, Trainer, Headband, Bike, PowerTap, fan, Water, 15mm Wrench, SpeedPlay pedels, and some non caffeine gels (since he does initial BP) but u need some juice...
I normally would warm up 30 easy spin / stretch so you're not cold
He’s really good – I did it as a series to see training effects. Keys that I found is treat this like a major race – this test starts easy, is easy during the middle, then gets hard as hell… Be sure to taper into it, be rested, hydrated and I’d recommend doing a non caffeine gel pack or something so you don’t bonk in advance (far enough that you don’t want to hurl it during the testing…
That was a tuff test... VO2max testing w blood lactate every 30 seconds - basically go until you completely blow - most intensive testing I've ever done...
